Australian Melons

Australian melons are grown throughout most of the country, with all varieties available for the majority of the year.

    Cantaloupe

    Dense and sticky in texture, the Cantaloupe contains orange flesh that is both juicy and sweet. This variety is identified by its sandy coloured skin that appears to be covered in netting. The ripe Cantaloupe gives off a floral, musky aroma and is available year-round.

    Availability: January to December

    Honeydew

    A lightly sweet variety of melon, the Honeydew has a smooth skin that turns from green to a light yellow or cream as it ripens. Available year-round, the Honeydew contains a crisp and juicy flesh that’s light green in colour.

    Orange Candy

    A particularly sweet variety, this melon emits a candy-like aroma. Identified by its smooth yellow skin and orange flesh, the Orange Candy melon offers a delicious flavour with just the right balance of natural sugars.

    Availability: January to December

    Watermelon

    In season year round, Seedless and Seeded watermelon can have strpped mottled or dark green skin. Approximately 90% water, watermelon flesh is crispy, sweet and has a deep red flesh.

    Canary Melon

    The Canary melon is a large, bright-yellow elongated melon with a pale green to white inner flesh. This melon is distinctively sweet in flavour some describe it as similar to honeydew but slightly tangier.

    Availability: June to August

    Peil de Sapo

    Refreshing and deliciously sweet, the Piel de Sapo is the melon of choice in Spain. Available throughout the year in Australia, this variety has a mottled, textured skin and dense and juicy flesh. The tough rind makes it ideal for transportation.
